Humanity's Ruin Image: A New Beginning

So I started messing around with the Humanity's Ruin image and the OCD and ADD kicked in:

While I was posting the above, I had GIMP minimized and when I returned to it, this was there:
Strange Results
I can't explain it... perhaps my keystrokes were still effecting the image? It was the only layer and was called Copy#8. Strange! If I could only do this to the 'Humanity's Reign' image!

    I really like that image, a lot. So let me understand this, you were just playing around with this in GIMP, and the first image is what you finally came up with? How ever you came up with it, it is good.

    Thanks. For clarity, I was messing around with the peel-back effect when I couldn't get the Humanity's Ruin image from the previous post 'right'. After I posted it (the peel-back image) here, I went back to GIMP to find the image I later added at the bottom of this post. I am not sure what happened, but it is cool too.

    Which did you prefer?
